While Manika, who led the way throughout, lost to Shiho Matsudaira 15-17 7-11 5-11 in a hard-fought battle, Reeth lost to Yuki Shoji 3-11, 2-11, 7-11.
Manika and Reeth then lost 7-11, 7-11, 6-11 in the doubles to the Japanese pair of Miki Fujihara and Yuri Araki.
Earlier, the Indian girls beat Russia's A team in the quarterfinals and their 'B' team in the semifinals to setup a title clash with Japan.
The Indian B team, comprising Narasimha Priya, Mallika Bhandarkar, could not cross the quarterfinal stage and lost 1-3 to Hong Kong.
