While Vikram Krushnath Kurade, participating in the 50kg weight category, lost to Tolgahan Karatas of Turkey 0-3 in the pre-quarterfinals, India's much fancied grappler in the Greco Roman section, Ravinder Khatri (74kg) was humbled by Armenia's Karapet Chalyan within first two periods in the round of 16 with a 0-3 scoreline.

Ravinder, however, managed to win his initial bout against Austria's Michael Wagner 3-0.

Meanwhile, Manish (60kg) also lost his prequarterfinal bout after opening his campaign on a positive note, beating Rikiya Matsuzawa of Japan 3-0.

Manish, though, could not carry forward the momentum as he succumbed to Moldova's Maxim Mamulat 1-3 in the next round.

In the 96kg weight category, Sunil failed to overcome Azerbaijan's Abas Abdullayev after getting a bye in the round of 32.

Sunil was no match for his opponent as he lost the first period 0-6, before going down 0-1 in the next to hand Abdullayev a comfortable 3-0 victory.

A total of 23 Indian wrestlers, including seven women, are in the fray at the Junior World Championship.

While eight of the wrestlers will be contesting in the Greco Roman, another eight will be battling it out in the freestyle category.
