S M Bali, general secretary of IHA, has reached an understanding with the The International Handball Federation (IHF) in this regard.
The president of IHF, Hassan Mustafa, following detailed discussions with IHA in Basel, Switzerland on March 29 and 30, has agreed upon to provide equipment and technical assistance to help improve the standard of the sport in India.
"It was a welcome gesture by the international federation which is committed to help all its members. We have been assured four handball courts of international standards. Out of this, three would be synthetic outdoor courts and one terraflex court for indoor tournaments," said Bali.
"We will concentrate on school children and their trainers. The federation has divided students into two groups, one for 5 to 11 years of age and the other for students 12 to 17 years of age. There will be separate coaches for each group. The IHF will set up refresher courses in three Indian cities for children in both groups along with their trainers," he added.
In addition, the Indian federation has also been asked to nominate retired international players for selection as IHF delegates, referees and coaches.
