Indian held for possessing undeclared gold at Nepal airport

An Indian national was arrested at Tribhuvan International Airport in the Nepalese capital today for allegedly possessing undeclared gold.

Shravan Chandra Shekharan was arrested with 248 grams of gold during regular screening of passengers boarding a Jet Airways flight to New Delhi, The Himalayan Times reported on its website.

Shekharan had hidden the gold in the battery compartment of his laptop, according to police.

He was handed over to Kathmandu Metropolitan Police Range for further investigation, officials said.

On January 13, two Indians were arrested at the same airport for allegedly possessing undeclared foreign currency and gold.
