An Indian worker has been injured in an explosion at a cold store in a village in Bahrain.

36-year-old Nowfal Nadukkanny, who hails from Kozhikode in Kerala, was on his way to work when the blast took place on Tuesday.

"I was walking towards my cold store when I heard a loud bang. I was a little far from the place, otherwise I would have died. It happened behind me and I fell because of the force," Nadukkanny was quoted as saying by Gulf Daily News.

Nadukkanny, who has been working at the cold store for the last 10 years, was taken to the BDF Hospital from where he was later discharged.

He had suffered injuries on his back in the blast which claimed the life of a Bahraini man.
