A 50-year-old Indian origin Singaporean was today jailed for two years and seven months for attacking his friend with a metal chair and a beer bottle.

P Rajenthirun pleaded guilty to striking Silvendran Saminathan, 50, on the head after having a quarrel at latter's house on March 4 this year.

The culprit also pleaded to failing to report for urine tests in August and September last year when he was under two-year supervision order.

A urine test is generally mandatory in Singapore for those under supervision for taking banned drugs.
