Indian jailed in Singapore for running prostitution ring

A 24-year-old Indian national was today sentenced to six months by a court here for allegedly bringing three prostitutes from his country to Singapore.

Kothandan Vinoth had pleaded guilty to bringing in the three women into Singapore and living on their prostitution earnings, the Straits Times reported.

He was in business here for less than a week.

The three women, all Indian nationals, were offered air tickets and promised a monthly salary of 30,000 rupees (USD 684) each to work as prostitutes in Singapore.

Two of the women, aged 21 and 42, flew in from Chennai with Vinoth on April 1 this year. The third woman, 35, arrived here on April 6.
