Indian Kayaking team gets sports kit worth Rs 6.7 lakh

The Sports Authority of India today distributed branded kit worth Rs 6.7 lakh to the Senior and Junior Indian Kayaking and Canoeing contingent, which will participate in the Sr. And Jr. Asian Championship to be held in Uzbekistan from September 26 to 29.

A sum of Rs 28 lakh was spent for preparation of the team for the championship at Samarqand, which included food and supplementary, sports kit, medical care, TA/DA, accomodation and other logistic expenditure.

The branded kit consisted of track suit, two t-shirts, two shorts, two pair of socks, two sets of playing kit, kit bag and one pair of warm-up shoes.
 

"Scientific assistance has been provided to the Indian team for the championship. The facilities provided to the squad consisted of 20 boats, food and nutrition supplementary," said Roque Dias, Regional Director, SAI.

The Regional Director also forwarded proposal to purchase world class brand plastex Kayaking and Canoeing boats and accessories to DG, SAI amounting to Rs 12 crore in preparation of Indian team for Asian Games 2014 and Rio Olympics 2016.
