Indian killed in drive-by shooting Malaysia

An ethnic Indian was killed after being he was shot by unidentified assailants while he was driving his car in Malaysia's Kedah state.

Kulim district police chief, Supt. Ghuzlan Salleh said the victim, identified as K Thangaraja, 31, was driving his car last night, when two men, believed to be armed with a pistol, fired several shots at the victim hitting his face and right arm.

"This caused the victim to lose control of the car, which skidded for about 70m to the left road shoulder where he died," he said.

Ghuzlan said the police team that arrived at the scene, thought the victim was involved in a road accident until they saw the gunshot wounds.
 

He said police found ten 9mm bullet shells in the victim's car. Thangaraja worked as a shop assistant for a used goods business.

Ethnic Indians comprises eight per cent of Malaysia's 28 million people.
