A 58-year-old Indian man who lived in solitude for 23 years in Bahrain without leaving the country even once has died and will be buried in his adopted homeland.

Porathala Kesavan Joshi Kumar from Kerala, who was not in touch with his family for years, is believed to have suffered from poor eyesight and died after falling in his home.

The stepmother of Kumar has agreed for his burial in Bahrain, the Gulf Daily News report said.

According to Kumar's distant relative, Vishnu Vyas, the final permission is being sought from the Kerala government since Kumar's stepmother is not an immediate relative.

Vyas had moved to Bahrain two years ago and managed to track down his cousin before he died.

Kumar met with an accident around six months ago and ever since had poor vision.
