An Indian Navy float at the ongoing Goa Carnival displays the role played by the naval branch of the Indian armed forces in providing coastal security and carrying out anti-piracy operations.

"The float consists of a model ofan Indian Naval Destroyer INS Kolkata along with aircraft models. It shows Naval Commandos providing security to the fishermen and ensuring safe trade by carrying out anti-piracy operations along the vast Indian coastline," Indian Navy spokesman said today.

The float also displays the importance of Naval Aviation in providing reconnaissance, tracking and destroying the surface and aerial targets with its air powerelements which also complemented the float.

A play depicting the theme of the float was performed by the personnel in which Naval Commandos were seen rescuing fishermen from the clutches of pirates, the spokesman said.

The Naval float was Conceptualised, Designed and Fabricated at Naval Aircraft Yard (Goa) under the command of Flag Officer Commanding Goa Area.

Goa is currently hosting float parades across all its cities as part of Carnival celebrations.

The parade is led by a float of King Momo, a mythological figure that pronounces the degree of 'Eat, Drink and Merry' during the Carnival days.
