The Indian Army along with its Nepalese counterpart today rescued 84 Indians trapped in various parts of earthquake-hit Nepal.

"Standing shoulder to shoulder for humanitarian cause. Indian & Nepali Armies rescued 84 Indians trapped in Lukla, Ziri, Manaslu & Tamakoshi," Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Vikas Swarup tweeted.

Defence sources said Lukla is the jumping point for those wanting to climb the Mount Everest.

"There were people who had reached Lukla and needed to be rescued. They were evacuated using helicopters," the sources said.
