A 30-year-old Indian-origin woman in Australia was killed when a truck rolled over and trapped her while her four-year-old son miraculously survived.

Priya Muthu was hit when the fully loaded truck rolled backwards down her driveway at Wahroonga, on Sydney's north shore, yesterday.

The truck tipped over and trapped her underneath as she had her son in her arms.

Paramedics tried to save Muthu but she died at the scene. Her son was taken to an area hospital with facial injuries and has now been allowed home.

The 67-year-old driver of the truck was not inside the vehicle during the incident. It is not known yet what caused the truck to roll.

According to a report in ABC News, Muthu was inspecting her property when the truck rolled over her. Muthu's tenant described her as "very nice and kind" person.

The driver was questioned by police for several hours then released. No charges were laid, the report said.

The vehicle has been seized by police and is now being examined for mechanical faults.
