Indian Photography Festival 2017 kicks off on Sep 21

The third edition of Indian Photography Festival (IPF), which celebrates a wide range of local and international photography across various genres, will get underway on September 21.

"As many as 525 photographers from 40 countries will display their works at the festival which will have over 100 events and exhibitions at 17 venues for 18 days across Hyderabad," Telangana Secretary (Tourism, Culture and Sports) B Venkatesham told reporters here today.

The IPF will have events like featured exhibitions, art talks, portfolio reviews, photography workshops, and book launches etc.

"We expect it to put a spotlight on the Indian photography art-scene and place Hyderabad on the map of the international photography scene in line with other major cities of the world which have established festivals," he said.
 

Venkatesham said the audience for the IPF ranges from arts and photography enthusiasts to professionals across the creative industries.

"The IPF creates a platform for the professional and aspiring photographers, the photography lovers and the public where the IPF strives to promote the art of photography and at the same time addressing the social issues through the medium of photography," the secretary said.

Stating that photography is one of the most followed visual art forms around the world, he said it was a pride for Hyderabad to host such a festival for which globally renowned photographers will visit the city.

"IPF is the largest festival in India in terms of the scale and is getting close to becoming the largest in South East Asia," the top bureaucrat said.

IPF is an annual event held in September at various locations in Hyderabad.
