The Indian smartphone market is expected to double and touch 80 million by the end of current fiscal, a top Samsung India official said today.
"We are expecting smartphone sales in the country to touch 80 million mark by the end of current fiscal, while total sales were around 40 million in 2012-13," Samsung Mobile and IT India Head Vineet Taneja said.
Smartphone users in India are also expected to move to the latest versions of devices, he said.

According to CMR's India Mobile Handsets Market Review, 3Q 2013, India saw 11.1 million smartphone shipments for the period July-September (3Q) 2013.
At Samsung Southwest Forum 2014, Taneja unveiled smartphone Galaxy Note3 Neo and two tablets -- Galaxy tab 3 Neo and NotePro -- for the Indian market.
"We are planning to launch these products in India by the end of February or beginning of March," he said.
Sharing details of the products, Taneja said Galaxy Note PRO is 12.2-inch widescreen display, resolution with more than 4 million pixels. It has a large screen that allows multi-tasking.
Galaxy Tab3 Neo is a mid-segment device with slim design. The new Galaxy Tab3 Neo runs on Android 4.2 Jelly Bean and supports Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0 and GPS as connectivity options. There is a 3G variant available as well.
The Smartphone GALAXY Grand Neo is packed with multimedia features, according to the company. Samsung also showcased the curve ultra high definition (UHD) TV, which the company is planning to launch in March.
