An Indian teacher based in Singapore has been honoured for his contribution to early childhood education here.
Mishalani Jayaraj, associated with the Ramakrishna Mission Sarada Kindergarten in Singapore, received the inaugural Leading Foundation Teacher Award here from Minister of Social and Family Development Chan Chun Sing.
"Sarada Kindergarten is blessed with good and dedicated teachers who go beyond the call of duty to serve the society," Swami Satyalokananda told PTI commenting on the award.

"As a not-for-profit organisation, we can contribute to the preschool sector by exploring innovative practises and approaches to deliver quality early childhood education, he added.
Elaborating on the school's plans, he said: "We value our teachers and students. And we will keep improving our standards to enhance education outcomes for children to the betterment of society."
The Sarada Kindergarten, which has 500 pupils and 26 teachers, is one of Ramakrishna Mission's educational institutions ranging from kindergartens to universities operating worldwide.
The mission also runs 178 centres including 15 hospitals globally.
Classes at the Singapore kindergartens are conducted in English with Tamil and Hindi taught as mother tongues.
The Swami Vivekananda organisation established its Singapore mission in August 1928.
