Riding on Suman Mohapatra's hat-trick, Indian girls thrashed their Sri Lankan counterparts 7-1 to begin their AFC U-14 Regional Championship in style here today.
Defending champions India surged into the lead in the 19th minute when Roja Devi scored. Lifa Gama made it 2-0 in the 28th minute while Srijana Tamang scored the team's third goal two minutes later.
Changing over, the Indians dominated proceedings and the barrage of attacks eventually led to Suman Mohapatra scoring twice -- in the 53rd and the 60th minutes.

Karen Pais netted the sixth in the 69th minute while Suman completed the rout in added time.
All the matches were of 70-minute duration with two halves of 35 minutes each.
