"The upward trend, already seen in January this year, continues in the second month of the year, showing the rising Indian travel interest towards South Africa which received 6,805 visitors in February alone, up by 24.9 per cent in the same period last year," country manager of South African tourism in India Hannell Slabber said.
Slabber told reporters, as seen in recent arrival statistics, a large number of Indian tourists were choosing South Africa as a holiday destination.
An exceptional jump of 26.2 per cent in Indian arrivals was witnessed by the destination with a total of 90,367 the tourists traveling to the country during 2011, he said.
He also said South Africa's largest tourism event INDABA 2012, concluded on a high note at Durban on May 15, which saw participation of 11,000 visitors.
