Three Indian professionals have embarked on a 45-day cross-country road-trip from London to Nashik to promote a "world without boundaries".
The group, which calls itself Globe Wheelers, plans to cover a distance of over 17,000 km across a route they claim sets a new record. They will cover this distance in their Toyota Fortuner shipped from India to London.
"We have been preparing for this trip for a very long time. We have had to plan for unthinkable situations for a journey like this. We are very excited and at that same time curious and maybe even a little worried about what this voyage has in store for us," said Ashish Kataria, a senior professional in a Fortune 500 infrastructure development company based in India.
He is joined on the road mission by friends Sanjeev Mishrilal Bafna, chairman and managing director of the Bafna Group and Seva Group, and interior decorator Rajendra Madanlal Parekh.
The road trip flagged off from London on Friday and the group has now arrived in Berlin, expected to arrive in Nashik next month.
"The weather, the terrain will change every day. We are also very excited about the people we will meet and share a meal with, share our experiences and cultures with them," added Kataria.
The route covers Britain, France, Belgium, Germany, Poland, Lithuania, Latvia, Russia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, China, Tibet, and the earthquake-hit regions of Nepal before arriving at the final destination in Maharashtra.
The extremes of their terrain include driving at zero altitude in Riga and at over 18,000 feet in the Himalayas as well as Siberian terrain midway.
