Indian woman sheds 32kg to win gold competition in Dubai

An Indian businesswoman has lost a whopping 32kg to win a competition here which rewarded one gram of gold for every kilo she lost.

Sharada Serigara, who beat more than 7,000 contestants in the 'Your Child in Gold competition', weighed 96kg before the contest and lost 32kgs in roughly two months.

Serigara won 32 grams of gold worth about 4,380 dirhams (USD 1192) in the contest organised by Dubai Municipality, Gulf News reported yesterday.

"There was no secret to my feat. It was all about diet and exercise and the determination to get healthy," Serigara was quoted as saying by the paper.
 

Somesh Chakrabortty, an Indian grade 10 student was the child category winner, losing 12kg in the contest. He weighed 97kg before competing.
