Indian women face trial in Dubai on charges of shop-lifting

Two Indian women charged with shop- lifting from a garment shop here face trial in the Dubai Criminal court, according to a media report.

They were presented before the Dubai Criminal Court yesterday.

Last month, the two women, aged 20 and 25, allegedly entered a fitting room in a shop for branded garments and stole 10 pieces after removing the security tags and hiding the clothes in their handbags, Emirates 24|7 news reported yesterday.

A salesman noticed the two customers roaming around and picking some clothes. They then went to the fitting room. When the two women came out if the fitting room, they were not holding any garment in their hands, the report said.
 

The salesman checked the fitting rooms and did not find any clothes inside, so he informed a security staff.

The security staff waited for the two women until they stepped out of the shop and demanded to check their handbags. Opening their handbags, the security staff retrieved ten garments from their bags.

They found out that the two women had removed the security tags of the clothes using a scissor. A theft complaint was lodged against them with the police, the report said.

Police arrested the women who were identified as MR and NA and accused them of attempted theft.
