The Indian women's hockey team continued its winning run on the Malaysian tour, as it thrashed the hosts 3-0 here today, for the fourth straight time in a row in the six-match series.

This tour is a build-up to the upcoming Commonwealth Games.

Under pressure following three defeats, the Malaysian team started on a defensive mode and did not allow the Indians to convert a single goal during the entire first half.

India had the upper hand but were unable to get through the defence of their opponents.

It was in the second half that India finally struck as Anupa Barla scored a brilliant field goal in the 38th minute.

The complexion of the game changed completely thereafter with India upping the ante. In the 45th minute, India doubled the lead and this time it was the stick of Ritusha Arya, which did the trick for her team.

If this was not enough, Namita Toppo broke through the Malaysian defence in the 65th minute and scored a field goal to make it 3-0.

Ritu Rani said, "The morale of entire team is high and from here the target is to take a clean sweep. While the Malaysians are playing good hockey, our team has managed to outclass them in every sphere of the game."

The next match is scheduled to be played tomorrow.
