: Tata Trusts Chairman Ratan N Tata Monday said that an individual's success should be based on capability and commitment, but not on the support given by community caste, or patents and others.
Participating in a valedictory function to commemorate the silver jubilee of GMR Varalakshmi Foundation (GMRVF), the Corporate Social Responsibilityarm of the GMR group here, he said success should depend on the capability and commitment of an individual and one should come up in life on their own to serve society and the nation.
He lauded the efforts of GMRVF towards bringing in significant sustainable improvement in society and its contribution over 25 years in different fields, including education, health care, empowerment and livelihood and community development
Tata also visited the GMR institute Technology, Degree college, GMR Varalakshmi DAV public school, GMR Varalakshmi care hospital, Nagavalli institute of rural entrepreneurship development, among other facilitates run by GMRVF at Rajam.
He also felicitated students who passed out of the GMR educational institutes andnow occupied top positions in various companies.
GMR Group Chairman G M Rao said that the company, as part of its CSR, had established the foundation 25 years ago and it has achieved a landmark in service to society through several sustainable developmental institutes.

He said GMRVF was formed with the objective ofdeveloping social infrastructure and enhance the quality of life of communities around the locations that has the group's presence.
Speaking about the GMR group, he said it is a leading global infrastructure conglomerate with interests in airport, energy, transportation and urban infrastructure.
The group has 15 power generation projects, of which 10 are in operation and five are under construction.
Rao said GMR group has developed and operates India's busiest airport in new Delhi and Rajiv Gandhi International airport at Hyderabad.
It recently won the concession to develop and operate Goa's greenfield airport at Mopa, he said
GMR infrastructure in partnership with Megawide construction corporation is developing Mactan Cebu Airport(MCIA) in Phillippines, he added.
