Indo-Bangla team to visit Tripura to see trade infrastructure

"In its five-day trip, the team would visit various Land Custom Stations (LCS) and the places selected for creating border haats," Chowdhury said.

Border haats are free trade zones where people from 10 km radius of border of both the countries can sell their products.

He said, the state government had sent proposals to the central government for setting up border haats in seven places but the Centre has approved four of them.

These four places are Kamalasagar in Sipahijala district, Kamalpur in Dhalai District, Raghna in North Tripura district and Srinagar in South Tripura district.

Chowdhury said the team which would reach the state on June 9, and later submit a report to the governments of Bangladesh and India with their suggestions.

 

Tripura is surrounded by Bangladesh in three sides and shares 856 km long border with it.
