Director General of Indian Council for Cultural Relations Satish Mehta said artists of the two countries not only lived together in the residency programme but they made very good paintings.
This kind of approach would make Indo-China relations much stronger in future, Mehta said.
Theme of the residency programme was "maitri" (friendship) in which ten women artists from various parts of the country took part in paintings for five days, he said.
Paintings produced by the artists would be taken around the country for exhibitions in a phased manner, and the next round of Women Artists Residency would be held in China, Mehta said.
