The Indo-Nepal border along Uttar Pradesh's Bahraich district would remain sealed between September 11 and 15 due to polling for by-election to Balaha assembly constituency on September 13.

District magistrate Satyendra Singh said that during this period SSB and Nepali army jawans would jointly patrol the area.

The decision to this effect was taken at a meeting with officials of Banke, Baradiya and Dang districts of Nepal with their counterparts on this side of the border this evening, the DM said.

Movement of traffic on the border would remain suspended from 48 hours before the polling to 48 hours after, the DM said, adding officials of both sides have agreed to repair of damaged pillars on the bordering areas.

The bypoll was necessitate after sitting MLA Savitri Bai Phule resigned following her election to Lok Sabha in the recent elections.
