Indonesia's transport, courier and hyperlocal shopping startup, GO-JEK, today announced the acquisition of city-based software engineering company C42 Engineering and Delhi-based DevOps company, CodeIgnition.

Backed by Sequoia Capital India and Yuri Milner's DST Global, GO-JEK is an app platform that provides extensive services such as transport, courier, hyperlocal shopping, payments and lifestyle across Indonesia.

Through this acquisition, the company is establishing GO-JEK India, its R&D centre here, with the primary objective of gaining access to India's top product development talent, GO-JEK said.

The founding members of C42 and CodeIgnition will be joining GO-JEK's global management team and taking on key roles, the company said in a statement here.

It is the fastest growing startup in the world outside of China and has seen its monthly transaction volumes scale by over 900x since it was launched just over a year ago, the statement said.

"This is one of the most exciting acquisitions for GO-JEK as it catapults our technology capabilities to new heights...," Nadiem Makarim, Founder and CEO of GO-JEK, said.

C42 Engineering and CodeIgnition have worked with GO-JEK for several months leading up to the acquisition, it said.

GO-JEK India plans to grow to a 100 person product engineering team over the next year.
