The city police today questioned several people from Azaad Nagar area after a few Muslim clerics complained that the youths in the locality are being instigated and misled in the name of religion.

The clerics alleged that those who were trying to radicalise the youths in this Muslim-dominated area were suspected to have links with the banned Islamic Research Foundation (IRF) of controversial preacher Zakir Naik.

Police were investigating the complaint, said deputy inspector general of police H C Mishra, adding that a strict action will be taken if the complaint was found to have substance.

Inspector Vinod Dixit of Azaad Nagar police station said some 25 persons were questioned today, and further probe is underway.
