The Lokayukta police arrested a patwari (village official) and another person red-handed while taking bribe of Rs 7,000 from a farmer for correcting entry in the land record at Depalpur near here today.

The accused were identified as Kriparam alias BC (48), the village official, and Sandeep Kalouta (19).

The farmer's brother had transferred land in his name and the tehsildar had ordered registration of the farmer's name in the land record in November, however the patwari allegedly demanded bribe, police said.

Acting on the farmer's complaint, Lokayukta police laid a trap and nabbed Kalouta while taking the money outside Kriparam's office. Later they arrested Kriparam.

Both were booked under the Prevention of Corruption Act.
