Indus to add telecom towers to boost mkt share in TN

Leading telecom tower company Indus Towers Ltd will add more towers in a phased manner in Tamil Nadu to increase its market share, a top official said today.

Though the company now offered its users a near perfect uptime of 99.99 per cent with over 13,000 towers in Tamil Nadu, it would increase its market share by 1 per cent year on year, with the addition of towers, required for added tenancies, A Siva Prakash Rao, Circle CEO, Tamil Nadu, told reporters here.

At present, the company has a market share of 52 per cent in Tamil Nadu.

This could be achieved through institutional site acquisitions from government, non-government as well as private bodies, continuing to prove the best-in-class network in Tamil Nadu, he said.
 

Indus has substantially increased the number of 'green sites' in Tamil Nadu from over 1,100 sites in 2013 to over 4,600 sites in 2,015, thus proving that it has reduced the use of diesel by 68 per cent, Rao claimed.

Stating that the company has installed 200 towers in the state during this fiscal and plans another 200 in the next fiscal, Rao said that Tamil Nadu was one of the largest and amongst the most important circles in India for Indus.

Indus has presence in the 15 major telecom circles of India and has achieved over 2.50 lakh tenancies till date, a first in the telecom tower industry globally and with the current count of over 1.25 lakh towenrs, the company has the widest coverage in the country and also the largest telecom tower company in the world, he claimed.

The company was also working with Chennai Metro for enabling seemless connectivity to all commuters, he said.
