The colonial-era house of the philanthropist and founder of textile major Arvind Limited, Kasturbhai Lalbhai, has been restored and converted into a museum to showcase his rich collection of art and antiquities.
The house, with two buildings -- one constructed in 1905 and another in the 1930s -- would also host exhibitions, retrospectives and works by young artists, said curator Jayshree Lalbhai, the wife of Lalbhai's grandson and CMD of Arvind Limited, Sanjay Lalbhai.
The house is located in Shahibaug area of the city.

"The colonial building was home to the extended Lalbhai family till the time families grew large and members moved away leaving this complex unoccupied for almost two decades. The collection displayed here is modest in size but it has allowed us to showcase some wonderful specimens of our traditional art," Jayshree said.
The paintings exhibited range from the Persian, Mughal, Deccan, Pahari and Rajasthani schools, Tibetan Thangkas, Company School paintings, modernish paintings from Bengal school to the painted postcards from pre-Independent India.
The museum will be thrown open for public from February 16.
