Industrialist Manish Modi booked

Police have registered a case against industrialist Manish Modi and his two associates for allegedly selling government land by forging documents, following a court's direction.

Modi Nagar police station SHO Birjesh Sharma said an FIR under IPC Section 420 (cheating and dishonestly inducing delivery of property) was registered today against Modi and his associates -- Rajeev Gupta and Ankit -- on the order of a court under Section 156(3) of CrPC.

Modi, owner of the closed Modipon factory here, was booked on a complaint of advocate Priyadeep Sharma before a Ghaziabad court that he had sold five houses built on government land situated inside the Modipon premises.
 

Investigation into the case in on, the officer added.

Modi was not immediately available for comment.
