"Minister for Health Sham Lal Sharma instructed Director Health Services Kashmir to undertake the responsibility for the corrective surgery," an official spokesman said.
The baby, which seems to be less than a month old, was found abandoned outside the G B Path Children's hospital at Sonawar here on Wednesday.
Director Health Services Salim-ur-Rehman held consultations with specialists for undertaking the surgery.
Dr Sheikh Tariq, and Dr Hamidullah Wani, plastic surgeons and Dr Gowher Mufti, pediatric surgeon, were assigned the task.
