"There is some sort of infiltration from Pakistan side. But we are very alert on this," Shinde told reporters on the sidelines of a function here.

The minister had earlier during a trip to Jammu and Kashmir accused Pakistan of continuing to help militants infiltrate into India, saying there were intelligence inputs in this regard.

According to official figures, in 2011 there were 93 infiltration bids by militants from across the border in Jammu and Kashmir of which 26 were successful. This figure shot up to 139 attempts upto July 31 this year and of these 67 were successful.

Asked whether there was any incursion from China, he replied in the negative.

"There is no intrusion. I have studied it very minutely. They come and go. They stay there (near border) for an hour or so... But we have got our people (troops) there. They are all prepared," Shinde said.

He went on to say there was "no war-like situation" along the border with China.

"There is no war-like situation. There is nothing like infiltration or incursion at the border," he said.

About the situation in Indo-Bangla border, Shinde said, "I feel today we are in better position and better prepared."

The Home Minister's remark came after a function to mark the 51st Raising Day of Indo Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) force.

About the mercy plea by Ajmal Amir Kasab, lone terrorist survivor of 26/11 Mumbai attack case, he said it has been sent to President Pranab Mukherjee for final disposal.

Kasab's mercy plea had been rejected by the Home Ministry which strongly felt that no leniency should be shown to him as he had waged war against the country by carrying out the 2008 terror attack which had left 166 dead.
