Infiniti Retail appoints Avijit Mitra as CEO

Tata group's firm Infiniti Retail today announced appointment of Avijit Mitra as its Chief Executive Officer.

He will replace Ajit Joshi, who stepped down as the Chief Executive Officer & Managing Director with effect from April 15, 2015 to explore new opportunities.

Mitra was the Chief Financial Officer of the company. In the past, he also held several other roles including legal, IT, procurement (internal consumption), merchandising and quality, the company said in a statement.

He is a Chartered Accountant and began his career with Tata Global Beverages Ltd in 1990, where he worked in various roles in the finance function for a period of time.
 

Later, He joined the Indian Hotels Co Ltd in 1999, and moved to Infiniti Retail Ltd in 2006.

A subsidiary of Tata Sons, Infiniti Retail manages the consumer electronics retail business of the Tata group under the brand name 'Croma'.

The chain has 97 outlets across 16 major cities of India, selling over 6000 products in the stores in five lead categories, home appliances, entertainment, IT products, digital imaging and communication.
