Amid protests over the unscheduled power cuts, Jammu and Kashmir Minister for Forests and Environment, Mian Altaf Ahmed, today directed the Power Development Department to inform people about the power cuts in advance.
"Inform the public about schedule of power cuts in advance and take all measures to avoid unscheduled curtailment," Altaf told the PDD officials during a review meeting here today.
He, however, added that the department should strictly adhere to the scheduled power curtailment.
The minister underlined the need to devise an effective mechanism to repair the damaged transformers and time line restoration of power due to breakdowns to avoid inconvenience to the public.
Altaf also directed the PHE Department to maintain daily water supply and press in tanker services to the water stressed areas, including the rural areas.
