Infosys Foundation Monday announced the launch of the Aarohan social innovation awards here to nurture a culture of innovation in the social sector.
The awards would be given in six categories including healthcare, ruraldevelopment and destitute care,the foundation, which is a philanthropic and the corporate social responsibility arm of Infosys,said in a press release.
"Through the awards, we aim at nurturing a culture of innovation in the social sector to achieve a positive change. For this, we are setting aside Rs 1.5 crore this year from which we will reward social innovators whose solutions have the potential to make a difference," the release quoted chairperson of the foundation Sudha Murty as saying.
The application for the first edition of the awards would be available from October 15 till this year-end, the release said.
Participants can submit entries describing their work in the form of videos that can be uploaded on the Aarohan socialinnovation awards website, it said.
