Congress Rajya Sabha MP Partap Singh Bajwa today wrote to Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh to initiate a resolution in the state assembly seeking opening of Kartarpur Sahib corridor in Pakistan to enable Indian devotees to pay obeisance there.
Bajwa said the resolution will have the unanimous support of all members of the house and it must be handed over to Prime Minister Narendra Modi so that he can take up this matter with his Pakistani counterpart to ensure that the corridor is opened up for the devotees.
"I write to you in the context of Kartarpur Sahib corridor, which is of utmost reverence to Sikhs all over the world.
"In view of the 550th birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev ji next year, I request you to initiate a resolution on the floor of the Punjab Assembly, tomorrow i.e. August 27, 2018, seeking opening of the said corridor to enable devotees to pay obeisance at the Kartapur Sahib Gurdwara in Pakistan," Bajwa said.
