Injured club cricketer Rahul Ghosh, who was hospitalised Tuesday after being hit on the head while fielding in a local league match, was doing fine and would be discharged next week, according to hospital authorities.

"Rahul is absolutely fine now. He had a shower and slept normally. He shall be discharged either Monday or Tuesday," Dr Sabyasachi Sen, medical director of the Nightingale Hospital where the cricketer is being treated, told PTI.

The 20-year-old Police cricketer was hit on the left side of his head while he was fielding at cover in their Cricket Association of Bengal Second Division League against Vijay SC.

The timing of the incident had panicked the cricket fraternity who were yet to recover from the death of former U-19 Bengal captain Ankit Keshri because of a head injury on Monday.

East Bengal cricketer Keshri who was playing as a substitute against Bhowanipore was hit on his head after a collision with fellow fielder Sourav Mondal while taking a catch.

He died of cardiac arrest at the Nightingale Hospital in the early hours of Monday.
