Haryana's main opposition INLD today sought Haryana Governor's intervention in the nearly month-old farmers' agitation in Kaithal district, demanding higher prices of their land acquired by the state government for a bypass.
An INLD delegation led by Leader of Opposition and senior leader Abhay Singh Chautala and party state president Ashok Arora met Governor Kaptan Singh Solanki, seeking his intervention in the issue.
"The BJP government is discriminating in the compensation provided to the farmers, whose land have been acquired for the Kaithal bypass," Chautala said.

The protesting farmers have been demanding Rs 70 lakh per acre.
In the memorandum submitted to the Governor, the INLD leaders claimed that "for the land in Pyoda, Kyodak, Harsola, Sega, Narad, Gyong and Ujhana villages, the state government was paying only Rs 27 lakh per acre to the affected farmers, whereas the market rates are around Rs 50 lakh to Rs one crore per acre.
"However, the government was paying Rs 46 lakh per acre in Kalayat, Pehowa and Ismailabad to the farmers," they said.
Throwing light on the deplorable condition of the agitating farmers since the past one month, Chautala said, "Farmers are sitting on the protest for the past 29 days and two farmers Chanda Singh and Dariya Singh are on indefinite hunger strike for the past 15 days but nobody from the government has reached them yet."
The INLD leaders have demanded immediate intervention of the Haryana Governor against the alleged discrimination and raising the amount of compensation to Rs 70 lakh per acre to all farmers.
