The INLD in a statement warned of launching demonstration and protest rallies across the state to pressurise the Centre to rollback the fuel price hike.
Punjab unit of CPI (M) also held rallies across the state to protest hike in diesel price and restricting supply of subsidised cooking gas.
Industrial workers took out processions and burnt effigies of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to express their displeasure against the "anti-people" decisions.
Rallies were held at various places including Ludhiana, Raikot, Hoshiarpur, Dehlon, Sangrur, Barnala and Malerkotla.
The government had yesterday hiked diesel prices by a steep Rs 5.62 per litre and restricted supply of subsidised cooking gas to six cylinders per household in a year to fetch an additional Rs 20,300 crore.
