Inmate caught taking mobile, drugs inside the jail

A new inmate of central jail here has been caught entering the prison along with mobile, mobile charger and drugs, hidden inside his stomach, officials said.

"The incident happened yesterday, when new inmate Balbir Singh Banjara (45) was being brought to jail. During search, nothing was found under his clothes but when he was asked, he admitted to have concealed two mobiles, a charger and drugs pouches in his rectum," Dy Jailor Surendra Kumar said.

The inmate was taken to Maharao Bhim Singh (MBS) hospital last night where the doctors recovered two mobile sets, a mobile charger and tobacco pouches from his rectum.
 

Each pouch of Charas (drugs) weighs about 70 to 80 grams, he added.

Banjara, a resident of Nagar Nigam colony area, was arrested under Arms Act.

Police is probing that to whom Banjara was to supply the things, he said, adding that the inmate has not named any one so far as to whom he was to hand over the items.
