A 42-year-old prisoner allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself from the ceiling of the bathroom at Bikaner Central Jail, an official said today.
Lilu Soni alias Lalit Soni, body was found hanging from the bathroom ceiling yesterday, Jail Superintendent Kailash Trivedi said.
The inmate was suffering from Tuberculosis and mental disease, and probably living in depression, Trivedi said, adding a judicial enquiry was ordered immediately to probe the cause of inmate's death.
Lilu had spent ten years in Harayan's Yamuna Nagar Central Jail in a case-2001 under NDPS act, and was in Rajasthan's Bikaner prison in the same NDPS act since 2014, Trivedi said.
The body was sent for postmortem examination, and would be handed over to the relatives, he said.

Meanwhile in Bikaner, relatives of the deceased inmate
alleged a foul play and said that Lilu could not have committed suicide.
Baljeet Singh, a close relative, demanded a separate probe into the case, saying that the whole matter was suspicious.
