A 30-year-old undertrial, lodged in district jail, died today during treatment at a Delhi hospital, an official said today.
The undertrial Surendra, who was suffering from some kidney ailment and was under treatment for last several months, was rushed to a hospital yesterday after his condition deteriorated, Superintendent of district jail Rakesh Singh said.
Surendra, who was arrested 15 days back in connection with alleged smuggling of illicit liquor, was later referred to Ram Manohar Lohia hospital in Delhi where he died this morning, Singh said.
A judicial inquiry has been recommended into the death of the undertrial, the Superintendent said.
