The inmates of a drug de-addiction centre in the outskirts of the state capital here allegedly killed the caretaker today before fleeing from the place, police today said.
The deceased has been identified as Sumit Ranjan Behera, caretaker of Prayash, the de-addiction centre at Naharkanta. His body was found inside the centre with hands and legs tied,
the police said.

"All the 36 inmates have fled from the de-addiction centre. The body of the caretaker was found with his hands and legs tied," Deputy Commissioner of Police Satyabrat Bhoi told reporters.
According to reports, Sumit was in-charge of the 36 drug addicts undergoing treatment at the first floor of the centre.
When the addicts tried to escape from the centre today, Sumit stopped them, following which they tied his hands, legs and mouth and killed him, the police said quoting preliminary investigations.
