Inquiry ordered in power theft by SDM, Tehsildar offices

Punjab government today ordered an inquiry into the alleged power theft by offices of Sub Divisional Magistrate (SDM) and Tehsildar in Gurdaspur district.

The inquiry will be conducted by Gurdaspur Deputy Commissioner, an official spokesman said here adding that orders in this regard were issued by Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal.

Badal has asked the Deputy Commissioner to submit the inquiry report at the earliest so that a stern action could be taken against the officers allegedly involved in stealing power, the spokesman said.

Badal also said that such act of violation or negligence on the part of any public servant while discharging their official duties will never be tolerated at any cost.
 

The CM said rather such delinquent officials deserved the "severest of sever" punishment as deterrent for other erring officials in future.

A section of media reported that offices of Sub Divisional Magistrate (SDM) and Tehsildar in Dera Baba Nanak sub-division, falling under Gurdaspur district had been stealing power to run their offices.
