Inquiry ordered into fraudulent drawal of freight charges

An inquiry has been ordered into the alleged fraudulent drawl of freight charges worth Rs 25 lakh for carriage of ration items to private depots in Kishtwar district of the state, Jammu and Kashmir government today said.

The Assistant Director CA&PD (Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution) department Kishtwar has been directed to conduct the detailed enquiry into the alleged fraudulent drawal of freight charges worth Rs 25 lakh for carriage of ration items to private sales depots at Thakarie (Pakalan) in Inderwal constituency, Minister for CAPD and Tribal Affairs Zulfikar Choudhary said in a written reply to a question of Congress member G M Saroori in Assembly.
 

He said the report of Assistant Director is still awaited.

However, the Assistant Director concerned has intimated that Nek Ram, Dealer Thakraie (Pakalan) has been paid carriage charges amounting to Rs 6,81,677 from 2011-12 to 2014-15, he said.

However, no such private sale depot fall in Thathri tehsil, he said.
