Punjab Health Department today destroyed quintals of insect-infested rasgullas and khoya stored at a cold storage for sale during the ongoing festival season.
A cold storage unit at Jhungian village in Zirakpur was raided and four quintals of spurious rasgullas and khoya, which were even found to be badly infested by insects, were found stored there by a sweet shop owner of the area for sale during the ongoing festival season, District Health Officer (DHO) of Mohali Dr H S Oberoi said.
Three quintals of spurious khoya (condensed milk) was even decomposed in nature and stored at a cold storage for preparation of sweets, Oberoi said.
