Police are suspecting the role of an insider in the alleged murder of the wife of an Excise official and his two minor children in their house in Uttam Nagar area of west Delhi.

According to a senior police officer, all three were killed about four hours before their bodies were discovered in their house.

Police said they have not given a clean chit to anyone who is close to the family and have questioned the husband Amit Kumar, an inspector in the Central Excise Department.

Giving details of the case, the police officer said, "The bodies of Deepmala alias Deepa and her two children -- Saksham (9) and Shaili (2) -- were discovered by Kumar around 8.30 pm yesterday when he returned from work. Deepa was found dead in bedroom and her children bodies were lying in bathroom."

"The sole intention seemed to kill Deepa and her children as nothing else in the bedroom was touched... Also the sharp- edged weapon used in the crime was taken away," said the officer.

"Since the attacker managed to get to the bedroom, it seems he must have been close to the family. We are investigating the case from all angles," the officer added.
