A day after Rs two crore worth of gold jewelleries of a private company were looted by a gang, police today said they suspected insiders' role in the daring highway heist near Sriperumbudur, about 40 km from here.

The fact that the three employees of the company went inside a motel without taking the ornaments with them led to raised suspicion about insiders' role, police said.

The three were being questioned, police said adding they were looking into the angle that one of them could have alerted their accomplices while having food at the motel.

The employees had parked the van in which they were taking gold ornaments worth Rs two crore to different places at the motel to have lunch. When they returned, the van was found missing.

The van was later found abaondened at a nearby place and the jewels were stolen after breaking open the box in which they were kept.

"We are looking into all angles. We are not ruling out anything at this stage," a senior police official said.
